POORNACHANDRA KUMAR On the sixth day of the annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple in Tirupati on Sunday, the processional deity of Lord Rama was taken out on Hanumantha Vahanam, blessing devotees. Accompanied by temple paraphernalia, including decorated chariots, bulls and horses moving in procession, and bhajan groups performing kolatam, the deity was taken around the four mada streets of the temple amid devotional fervour. According to tradition, in Treta Yuga, Lord Hanuman is revered as the foremost devotee of Lord Rama, symbolising unwavering devotion and service. Later, Snapana Thirumanjanam was performed to the processional idols of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana. As part of the ritual, the deities were ceremonially anointed with milk, curd, honey, coconut water, turmeric and sandalwood. In the evening, Lord Rama again blessed devotees on Gaja Vahanam. Tirumala Sri Sri Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, Deputy EO Naga Ratnam, Temple Inspector Suresh, priests and a large number of devotees participated in the Vahana Seva programmes.
