According to archaeologist and Pleach India Foundation CEO E. Sivanagireddy, the figure holds a sword in his right hand and a shield in his left, with a snake raising its hood above his head — an unusual and striking feature. Based on its iconographic features, the sculpture is believed to date back to the Rashtrakuta period, around 10th century CE. Noting its historical significance, Sivanagireddy has urged the authorities concerned to take steps for its preservation.
