The SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has honoured leading scientists in the field of advanced materials research as part of the second International Conference on Advanced Functional Materials and Devices organised by its Nanotechnology Research Centre. Among the awardees were Ramaswamy Murugavel of IIT Bombay, Srinivasan Natarajan of Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, Kanishka Biswas of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru, and S. Balakumar of University of Madras. In the international section, the award winners were Naoki Wakiya of Shizuoka University, Japan for his work on ceramic materials, his colleague Yoshimasa Kawata for his contributions to material science and global research collaboration, and Judy Z. Wu of University of Kansas, USA for her contributions to material science. R.
