MOORTHY Eid-ul-Fitr which marks the end of the month-long fasting during the month of Ramadan was celebrated with religious fervour in Madurai district on Saturday. Muslims in large numbers gathered at Idgah grounds and offered special prayers. Special prayers were offered for world peace and prosperity. Following the prayers, they shared greetings with each other. Later, they exchanged sweets and gifts with their friends and relatives. They also distributed the essential commodities, food and new clothes to the needy people so that they do not go hungry on the occasion and celebrated like the others.
