Low awareness of Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram targeting adolescents impedes implementation

Awareness on the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) continues to be low in Urban Primary Health Centers, government schools, and anganwadis in the city leaving implementation of the scheme difficult.

Introduced in 2015, in the first phase, the scheme was rolled out in high priority districts Ariyalur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Perambalur, Tiruchi, Tirunelveli, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, and Virudhunagar. In 2017, it was launched in 15 districts and in 2024, the scheme was scaled up to be implemented in the entire State. However, in Chennai awareness of the scheme is low.
