Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma on Saturday said that Annamayya district has no shortage of LPG cylinders, dismissing rumours circulating on social media.

Addressing a review meeting with gas agencies and distributors here, the Joint Collector said that supply, stocks, and delivery systems were being closely monitored. “Special officers have been assigned to all 31 agencies in the district, with divisional officials supervising operations,” Mr. Narayan said.

He said that district and divisional control rooms had been set up to address complaints promptly. Consumers were advised to book cylinders only within stipulated timelines — 25 days in urban areas and 45 in rural areas. The Joint Collector appealed to the consumers to avoid repeated bookings. The OTP-based delivery would continue within one to three days. Hoarding and diversion of domestic cylinders for commercial use would invite legal action under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

“Priority supply will be ensured to schools, hostels, and hospitals,” Mr. Narayan said, urging the public to rely only on verified information and remain vigilant to rumours.
