Dr. P.S. Shankar Prathisthan, in association with the Dakshina Kannada Sangha and Rotary Club, presented the prestigious Chiguru Chinmaya Awards to seven emerging talents in different fields of arts and others as part of the Ugadi celebrations in Kalaburagi on Friday.

The Chiguru Chinmaya award winners included sisters Shivani S. Appa, a budding Bharatanatyam dancer, Bhavani S. Appa, and Maheshwari S. Appa, both budding singers. Other winners of the Chiguru Chinmaya Award were Kumari Sanvi Sandeep, a budding exponent of fine arts, Pranav Satyampet, who is an expert in memorising and reciting the Vachanas of 12th Century Social Reformer Mahatma Basaveshwara and other contemporary Sharanas, Koushik N Mudabi, a young Hindustani vocalist who has won several district and state-level awards, and Happy Raj, an expert Judo exponent who has won several awards in the Judo competitions held at the state and national levels. 

Another award winner, Rakshita Konded, who has won several awards and recognition in the Rangoli competitions at the state and national level competitions, was given the award in absentia.

The Award carries a memento and a cash award of Rs 2000 each. The award winners were felicitated by Dr Shankar and other dignitaries, including noted sculptor Chandrasekhar Shilpi, a national-level award winner who inaugurated the award function. (EOM)
