Sasikala’s All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AIPTMMK) and declared the two parties would jointly contest in the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections fielding candidates in all 234 constituencies. He did not clarify under which banner his candidates would be fielded as the judiciary has refused to restrain his estranged son Anbumani from using the name and flag of the PMK. The announcement came after Ms. Sasikala called on Mr. Ramadoss at his residence in Thailapuram near Tindivanam in Villupuram district. The meeting lasted for nearly two hours and a decision to contest the polls jointly was announced by in Ms. Sasikala’s presence. “We have signed an agreement to contest the elections in alliance with AIPTMMK. This victorious alliance has created a significant impact in Tamil Nadu, instilling fear in many. More parties will join us,” Mr. Ramadoss told reporters. “We will contest in all the 234 constituencies and decisions will be made in consultations with Ms. Sasikala. Those joining us can express their preferences. We have formed this alliance for the welfare of the people,” he added.
