Former Minister and AIADMK district secretary M.R. Vijayabhaskar on Friday lodged a complaint with Collector-cum-District Election Officer K. Ravikumar alleging that Karur MLA V. Senthilbalaji (DMK) had established “48 sheds” in different parts of the constituency to confine voters by providing money, food and alcohol.

Mr. Vijayabhaskar in his petition alleged that, similar to what was done during the Erode By-poll in 2023 and the 2024 Parliament election in Karur, the DMK had planned to establish as many sheds as possible to “confine voters” by offering whatever they wanted in Karur. Instead of thatched sheds in the earlier elections, permanent structures had been established at 48 places. Suitable action must be taken to prevent the “shed formula,” he demanded.

He said though a number of complaints had been lodged with CVIGIL App, most complaints were ignored by the officials. There was a nexus between them and the ruling party men.
