Director of Animal Husbandry T. Damodar Naidu has urged milk producers and vendors, who are not members of the cooperative societies, to register with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to ensure their business operations remain legally compliant.

In a press note on Friday, Dr. Damodar Naidu stated that all independent milk producers and sellers must obtain FSSAI registration or licence before engaging in any commercial activities. “The move aims to ensure that consumers receive safe and high-quality milk and milk products,” he said.

Highlighting recent incidents of milk adulteration reported in the State, Dr. Damodar Naidu stressed the need for strict adherence to food safety and licensing regulations. As part of the enforcement process, designated teams of Animal Husbandry Department would conduct field-level inspections to verify whether milk producers and vendors possessed valid FSSAI registration or licence.

He stated that officials would also assess whether milk and milk products were being handled, processed, and sold under hygienic and safe conditions. “Strict action will be taken against those found violating the prescribed norms,” he warned.

The Director further called upon consumers to remain vigilant and aware of food safety standards. He advised the public to report instances of unsafe or unhygienic milk production and sale to the nearest food safety officer.

Reiterating the department’s commitment to public health, Dr. Damodar Naidu urged milk vendors to comply with all regulations and ensure there were no lapses in quality or safety in the sale of milk and its by-products.
