The sector now accounts for 3.67% of the State’s ₹3,24,234 crore outlay. Presenting the Budget in the Assembly on Friday (March 20), Mr. Bhatti said that the State’s approach had moved beyond treating Naxalism purely as a law-and-order issue. He criticised both previous State administrations and the present Central government for relying largely on police and armed interventions, arguing instead that socio-economic inequalities lay at the root of the insurgency.
