The Andhra Pradesh government has rescheduled the public holiday for Ramzan (Eid-ul-Fitr) from Friday (March 20) to Saturday (March 21), following the non-sighting of the moon. In an order issued on Thursday (G.O. Rt. No. 612), Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad announced the change, stating that the holiday was initially declared for March 20. However, as the crescent moon was not sighted on Friday, the Waqf Board’s Chief Executive Officer requested a revision of the holiday date. In a separate order (G.O. Rt. No. 613), the government also revised the holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, for shops and other establishments. The holiday applicable to these entities had likewise been moved from March 20 to March 21.
