The Telangana government has proposed an allocation of ₹1,224 crore for the tourism sector in the 2026-27 Budget, as part of its broader push to position the State as a major global destination.

Presenting the budget in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Friday (March 20), Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the government has announced and is implementing the Telangana Tourism Policy 2025-2030 to ensure the comprehensive development of tourism across the State. “The policy aims to attract investments, generate employment opportunities, and showcase Telangana’s local arts, culture, and traditions on the global stage,” he added.

Mr. Vikramarka said the policy has received a strong response from the private sector, with investment proposals worth over ₹25,000 crore currently under consideration. Highlighting Telangana’s growing global visibility, he said Hyderabad drew international attention by hosting the Miss World beauty pageant, marking the first time the event was held in the country.
