Rangasamy were checked by officials of a Static Surveillance Team of the Election Commission of India at Aviyur police check post on Madurai-Thoothukudi highway on Thursday (May 19, 2026). The Chief Minister was on his way to offer prayers at Sri Subramaniya Swamy Temple in Tiruchendur. When the convoy arrived at the Aviyur check post, the SST, led by P. Perumal, stopped the vehicles.
