‘Ugadi asthanam’ was organised with religious fervour at the temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala on Thursday, marking the auspicious ‘Sri Parabhavanama’ Telugu new year. The presiding deity and the processional deities were adorned with new ‘silk vastrams’ as part of the traditional rituals. Later, ‘asthanam’ and ‘panchanga sravanam’ were rendered by Vedic scholars to Lord Malayappa Swamy and Vishvaksena at the Bangaru Vakili. The ceremony concluded on a grand note with ‘harati’ and distribution of prasadams, after which devotees were allowed for darshan. The celebrations witnessed the presence of Tirumala pontiffs, TTD Executive Officer M. Ravichandra, board members, JEO (Health and Education) Sharath, CVSO Muralikrishna and other temple officials. Adding to the grandeur, the inner precincts of the temple complex was embellished with large varieties of flowers, in addition to the floral dioramas in front of the temple and GNC toll gate.
