Junior colleges in the State will reopen for second-year students on April 1, 2026, followed by summer vacation from April 24 to May 31, 2026.

The Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, has released the annual academic programme (calendar) for the intermediate course (both general and vocational streams) for the academic year 2026–27. The schedule, issued by Secretary P. Ranjit Basha, is applicable to all junior colleges and composite Degree colleges in the State.

According to the calendar, colleges will reopen for all students on June 1, 2026, marking the beginning of the regular academic session. The academic schedule includes a series of unit tests, with Unit-I exams scheduled from July 29 to 31, Unit-II from August 27 to 29, and quarterly exams from October 5 to October 9, 2026.

Students will have Dussehra holidays from October 10 to October 20, 2026. Colleges will reopen on October 21, 2026. Unit-III exams will be held from November 5 to November 7, 2026. The half-yearly examinations are scheduled from November 25 to 30, 2026, followed by the first set of pre-final examinations-I from December 18 to 23, 2026.

Sankranthi holidays will be observed from January 9 to 17, 2027, with classes resuming on January 18, 2027. The second set of pre-final examinations will take place from January 19 to 23, 2027. Practical examinations for second-year students are planned for February 2027, while the Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE-theory) for both first and second-year students will be conducted during February/March 2027. The academic year will conclude on March 18, 2027.

In total, the academic year comprises 232 working days out of 314 calendar days, after accounting for Sundays, second Saturdays, public holidays, and vacations.

The Board Secretary has also issued strict guidelines for college managements making it clear that summer vacation must be strictly observed as per the schedule, and all government-declared holidays must be followed. Admissions should be conducted only as per the official schedule announced by the Board. He said colleges are prohibited from engaging in unhealthy competition, including canvassing students, misleading advertisements or offering guarantees of success in public examinations. “Any such practices will be treated as violations of existing rules,” he said.

Additionally, the Board instructed private junior colleges to depute qualified staff for spot valuation work when required. The Board has warned that any deviation from these guidelines may result in strict action, including disaffiliation of the institution.
