The start of the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) public campaign in the Perumbavoor Assembly constituency in Ernakulam hit a pause button on Wednesday (March 18, 2026) after reports emerged that the name of Twenty20 candidate and actor Lakshmipriya is missing from the voters’ list.

The roadshow planned in Perumbavoor was called off at the last minute, though the campaign managers cited the candidate’s health issues as the reason.

A senior party functionary confirmed the development and stated that the party may have to field another candidate in Perumbavoor, if the reports about her name not figuring on the voters’ list are true. We have adequate time to select another candidate and it is not a matter of concern, he said.

It is learnt that Ms. Lakshmipriya’s name is reportedly missing from the voters’ list in her present place of stay, Karingachira near Thripunithura. Her name is also not on the list in her earlier place of stay, Thrikkakara. The actor was unavailable for comment.

The actor was part of the list of candidates announced by the Twenty20 on Tuesday. Actors Anjali Nair and Veena Nair were declared as candidates for the Thripunithura seat in Ernakulam and the Ettumanur segment in Kottayam respectively.
