Former Minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy’s personal assistant, Muni Tukaram, and a close follower, Madhava Reddy, were taken into custody by the police from the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Tirupati on Wednesday, in connection with the Madanapalle files burning case. The two were intercepted by the officials led by Deputy Superintendent Venu Gopal when they reached a coffee outlet near Gadanki toll plaza on Tirupati-Chittoor highway, accompanied by local leaders. After serving them notices, they shifted the duo to Tirupati for questioning. It may be recalled that Madhava Reddy and Muni Tukaram were named accused in the case pertaining to a mysterious fire that engulfed the Madanapalle Sub-Collector’s office in July 2024 after the general elections, in which nearly 2,440 important files were gutted. It may also be recalled that Muni Tukaram had made a vain bid to get an anticipatory bail from the High Court after the incident and later moved abroad for a brief period.
