Catering to the needs of millions of devotees visiting Tirumala, the system has emerged as a crucial support service, enabling pilgrims to securely store their belongings while proceeding for darshan. At present, 80 counters are operational in Tirumala and along the pedestrian pathways, manned by 394 personnel working in three shifts to provide round-the-clock services. The centres facilitate safe custody of luggage, bags and mobile phones, allowing devotees to have darshan without the burden of carrying their belongings. Special arrangements have been made for pilgrims trekking through the Alipiri and Srivari Mettu footpaths. At Alipiri, seven counters staffed by 46 personnel can handle over 10,000 pieces of luggage, while at Srivari Mettu, two counters with 10 staff members cater to over 3,000 items. The deposited luggage is transported and made available at designated delivery centres atop the hill town. The deposit facilities for both luggage and mobile phones have been located at key points in Tirumala, including the Free Hall, Narayanagiri sheds, ₹300 Darshan Hall, Divya Darshan Hall and the Vaikuntham Queue Complex. Additional centres near the Kalyanakatta cater to devotees, besides special counters for senior citizens and the differently-abled. The system witnesses heavy usage during peak occasions such as Vaikuntha Ekadasi, Garuda Seva and Ratha Saptami. In January 2026 alone, over 10.4 lakh deposits were recorded, with a single-day high of 1.34 lakh on Ratha Saptami. The TTD has urged devotees to make use of these authorised facilities to ensure the safety of their belongings and a seamless pilgrimage experience.
