The Talaghattapura police have unearthed an illegal storage of LPG cylinders racket and seized a total of 155 cylinders during a raid in south Bengaluru. Based on a complaint by a food inspector of Bengaluru South Taluk on Tuesday, a case was registered under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. The complaint alleged that a gas agency owner had unlawfully stored cylinders in a godown located in Vishweshwaraiah Industrial Layout, 9th Phase, J.P. Nagar. Acting on the tip-off, police raided the premises and recovered 148 empty cylinders and seven filled 19-kg cylinders belonging to Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Bharat Gas), which were allegedly being stored in violation of norms.
