The city police dog squad conducted checks on the Kirandul passenger train no. 58502 on Tuesday (March 17). With the assistance of a newly trained sniffer dog ‘Laika’, the team successfully caught a passenger carrying six kg of ganja. The police seized the ganja and handed over the case to the Gopalapatnam police station for further investigation. Under the directions of the city police commissioner Dr. Shankhabrata Bagchi, the city police have intensified efforts to curb the smuggling of narcotic substances. As part of these measures, the city dog squad teams have been conducting regular inspections at key locations, including the RTC Complex, railway station, Beach Road, and other sensitive areas.
