Minister of Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar has presented Ugadi kits containing traditional clay pots to Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on the premises of the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Wednesday on the occasion of the ‘Parabhava Nama’ Telugu New Year.

Marking the Ugadi celebrations, the Minister launched the theme “Use clay pots, protect health – promote caste professions.” As part of this initiative, he handed over specially prepared Ugadi kits containing clay pots, glasses, jugs, bowls, along with festival essentials such as mango leaves, neem flowers, jaggery, tamarind, and chillies.

Extending festive greetings to people of the State, Mr. Prabhakar underscored the cultural and ecological importance of using clay utensils. He emphasised that clayware, deeply rooted in local tradition, is not only environmentally friendly but also beneficial for health. Encouraging citizens to adopt sustainable practices, he noted that promoting clay products supports traditional occupational communities and preserves age old craftsmanship.

The Minister urged people to celebrate Ugadi with the message “Use clay pots, protect caste professions, safeguard health,” and highlighted that increasing use of clay items would help revive traditional livelihoods while fostering environmental conservation.
