Chandrababu Naidu will visit the Polavaram irrigation project on Wednesday, January 7, to personally review the progress of works at the State’s prestigious multi-purpose project. He is scheduled to leave from his camp office at 10 a.m. and travel by helicopter directly to the project site. During the visit, Mr. Naidu will inspect key components of the project, including the Polavaram viewpoint, the coffer dam, the buttress dam and the works underway at ECRF Gap-1 and Gap-2. He will also review the diaphragm wall, which is in the final stages of construction. Officials said the Chief Minister is keen on closely monitoring the quality and pace of works, given the strategic importance of the project to Andhra Pradesh. After the inspection, the Chief Minister will hold an on-site review meeting with senior officials and engineers to assess timelines, address bottlenecks and ensure that the remaining works are completed expeditiously. Officials said the Polavaram project, described as the lifeline of the State, has gained significant momentum in recent months. Over the last 18 months, works have accelerated considerably, with nearly 13% of construction completed during this period alone. Overall, the project has now achieved about 87.8% completion.
