Members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) here on Tuesday held a protest condemning the DMK government for failing to prevent sexual assault, the breakdown of law and order, and the widespread circulation of narcotics.

Led by AIADMK District Secretary Muniyasamy, the protesters said that the agitation would impact the forthcoming Assembly elections.

He expressed confidence that women voters would play a decisive role in the DMK’s defeat.

Claiming the State has the poorest law-and-order record in South India, they predicted a major shift following the elections. Furthermore, they asserted that an AIADMK government under former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami would be the only way to restore public peace.

Emphasising that regime change was the coalition’s ultimate goal, Mr. Muniyasamy stated that strategic efforts are being intensified to secure favourable outcomes in every constituency.

He predicted the government’s downfall would be accelerated by the unregulated spread of narcotics and the State’s reliance on Tasmac liquor sales.

Further, he criticised the administration’s failure to resolve high-profile murder cases in the Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi regions. This is an evidence of a systemic collapse in law and order.
