Showers bring respite on Tuesday for people reeling under soaring temperature in Hubballi. | Photo Credit: KIRAN BAKALE Residents of Hubballi-Dharwad and various taluks in Dharwad district who were reeling under soaring mercury got some respite on Tuesday evening as rain with hail stones in some places brought down the temperature. While Dharwad received a downpour on Saturday, it was Hubballi’s first good spell of rain this month. The rain coupled with hail stones lashed the city cooling it against soaring temperature. Reports of rainfall with hail stones were also received from Kalghatgi and Kundgol taluk on Tuesday. While it brought down the temperature, the sudden downpour also threw life out of gear and employees working in various offices delayed their return to their houses. Many who were in the central business district for their festival shopping were caught off guard and had to return drenched. As usual various localities in the central business district were waterlogged for some time and people had a difficult time crossing the Kittur Chennamma Circle where flyover construction work is still under way. The rain coupled with gutsy winds also brought down branches of old trees in few localities but there was no casualty.
