Warangal MP Kadiyam Kavya has urged the Union Government to establish either a new railway zone or a full-fledged sub-zone centred around Kazipet, one of Telangana’s most crucial railway junctions.

She also pressed for the immediate commencement of the long-pending Kazipet Railway Manufacturing Unit (RMU), stating that the project has been delayed for decades despite its potential to generate significant employment for local youth. “The Class-III and Class-IV jobs must be filled with the locals, particularly by the SC and STs,” she said.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Monday during the discussion on the Railway Ministry’s Demands for Grants for 2026-27, Ms. Kavya said the increasing traffic congestion at Kazipet Junction requires urgent intervention.

Ms. Kavya demanded that the proposed Rail Under Rail (RUR) Tunnel at Kazipet be completed on priority to ease existing bottlenecks. Welcoming the Centre’s proposal for high-speed rail corridors connecting Hyderabad with Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune, she sought a clear implementation timeline for these ambitious projects.

The MP also called for speeding up tracks’ doubling and expansion works, particularly in the State’s backward and tribal regions like Bhupalpally, to improve connectivity and development opportunities.
