Southern Railway is all set to introduce regular train services daily on the Karaikal – Peralam broad gauge section which falls under the limits of the Tiruchi Railway Division. An express and two passenger trains are to be operated every day on this stretch via Tirunallar from next month. The Railway Board has approved the rerouting of the Tambaram – Karaikal – Tambaram express (Train No. 16175/16176) via Peralam – Karaikal section with extension up to Velankanni with effect from May 20. The trains will halt at Peralam Junction, Tirunallar, Karaikal, Nagore and Nagapattinam Junction in both directions.
