Belagavi Police have arrested four people on the charge of trying to circulate counterfeit currency. Officers from the Market Police Station arrested 21-year-old Mohammad Arbaaz, 26-year-old Rupesh Hanumantha Wakode, 23-year-old Mohammad Hussain Bakki from Goa and 25-year-old Shravan Kumar Tuntunli from Bihar in this connection. Investigators recovered a total of 495 fake notes in ₹500 denomination, four mobile phones and a car from the accused. This followed a complaint from a shopkeeper in Khade Bazaar in the Old City. He said that some people bought goods using fake notes. A team of officers led by Police Inspector J.M. Kalimirchi and Sub-Inspector Hussain Saba Kerur traced them and arrested the four. A case has been registered.
