The government has borrowed ₹3.30 lakh crore in two years, without implementing any significant welfare or development programme, says YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. | Photo Credit: File Photo YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday claimed that “widespread public dissatisfaction” was building up against the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, with discussion in “every household” questioning its performance. Addressing the local body representatives and party cadre from the Ongole Assembly constituency at Tadepalli, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the government failed to reach out to any section of society. “People are increasingly comparing the present administration with that of the YSRCP and questioning why welfare schemes implemented earlier are no longer being continued,” he claimed. Mr. Jagan accused the government of resorting to heavy borrowing, stating that it had obtained loans of ₹3.30 lakh crore in two years, without implementing any significant welfare or development programme. He claimed that the YSRCP government had transferred a substantial portion of borrowings directly to the beneficiaries through DBT schemes. He further alleged a sharp decline in government revenues due to mismanagement and corruption, accusing the ruling dispensation of indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and public assets. “Sectors such as mining, liquor, and land allocation are being misused, leading to financial strain on the exchequer,” the former Chief Minister said. He criticised the government for allegedly failing to act on various controversies involving public representatives, claiming that there had been “no action” in several cases. He called upon the cadre to stay united and actively engage with the public. He emphasised that the party stood on principles of credibility and values, and urged leaders and workers to strengthen grassroots connections. He also announced that he would undertake a padayatra after about a year and a half, during which he planned to spend extended time among the people. He expressed confidence that the party would return to power, promising greater importance to party workers under “Jagan 2.0.” dispensation.
