RAJESH Preparatory works for first phase of excavation of a prehistoric site at Pattinamarudhur, located about 12 km from here on the East Coast Road, commenced on Tuesday. A team of two officials of Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology, five scholars, and 12 others have camped at the site on the north of Pattinamarudhur, where evidences of prehistoric civilisation were found. The hitherto undisturbed site is being prepared for excavation by this team.
