Minister for Human Resource Development and IT Nara Lokesh on Tuesday (March 17) conducted a surprise inspection at the Mandal Parishad Model Primary School in Devaracheruvu, at Tarakarama Nagar in Mylavaram of NTR district. The inspection was carried out in the wake of a recent incident where the school headmaster allegedly created a scene claiming that the mid-day meal was of poor quality. The Minister personally tasted the mid-day meal served to the students and assessed its quality. He interacted with students to gather feedback on the food provided by the newly-appointed contractor. The students said the food was good. He also asked them about the quality of food on the day of the incident and earlier and advised students to inform their parents if the food quality was not satisfactory. He said the parents’ feedback on meal quality would be collected through the LEAP app and assured the students that such incidents would not be repeated. He also inquired with the staff about the recent incident where students had reportedly thrown the food into the dustbin due to its poor quality and asked whether a teacher was checking the food quality every day after preparation. The Minister also interacted with students to understand if they were facing any issues. Warns of strict action Mr. Lokesh made it clear that the officials concerned should identify and resolve every minor issue warned of a strict action if such mistakes were repeated. He wanted the officials to collect parents’ feedback weekly through phone calls and IVRS. He also reviewed the teaching methods and school records and directed officials to focus on increasing admissions and improving students’ learning outcomes. Later, the Minister visited the anganwadi center on the school premises and inspected the food provided to children and the cleanliness of the center and expressed his satisfaction.
