The Andhra Pradesh Upa Lokayukta has ordered payment of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) dues to the tune of ₹50.24 lakh to the outsourcing staff working in 32 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in Srikakulam district. The Upa Lokayukta conducted inquiry into the complaint alleging that the cooks, attenders, accountants, watchmen and sanitation staff were paid honorarium after deducting money towards EPF and ESI, which was not credited to the accounts of the staff from June 2018 to January 2020. Following the directions of the Upa Lokayukta, the authorities concerned initiated action, including filing of criminal cases against the agencies and recovery of the proceedings, the Registrar, Institution of Lokayukta, said in a release on Tuesday (March 17).
