In place of the question paper meant for fresh candidates, the officials at the examination centre gave them the question paper, prepared for the repeaters. The students, who also missed noticing it, wrote the exam and felt the questions were tough. Only when they came out of the hall and discussed it with other classmates did they realise that they had been handed the wrong question papers. They went inside and enquired with the officials. Upon realising the mistake, the officials gave them question papers afresh with instructions to answer them within half an hour. The students felt that the time they got was insufficient. “We failed to realise that it was a wrong question paper, as some of the questions were related to the syllabus we studied. However, there were some questions unrelated to the topics we were taught. Only after we enquired with the officials, they gave us fresh question paper and asked us to attend to the question within 30 minutes,” the students told the media. The officials have told them to take improvement in the II PU examination-2, scheduled to begin on April 25. When The Hindu contacted K.P. Gangadhar, Deputy Director of Pre-University Education in Hassan, the officer said that the officials in charge of the examination centre had been served notices seeking explanation. “There were both freshers and repeaters in the room. The officers should have checked the papers before distributing them,” he stated.
