‘Dune: Part Three’: First look at Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson revealed as Denis Villeneuve returns to Arrakis

The first images from Dune: Part Three have been unveiled, offering an early glimpse at the next chapter in Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi saga. The film is currently slated for a theatrical release on December 18, where it is expected to face major box office competition from Avengers: Doomsday.

The initial look was shared by Timothée Chalamet, who returns as Paul Atreides. The image shows a close-up of the character in a Fremen stillsuit, with visible signs of physical and emotional strain following the events of Dune: Part Two. The new installment continues Paul’s journey after his rise to power on Arrakis and the launch of a wider conflict across the galaxy.

Additional images released through official channels confirm the return of several key cast members. Zendaya reprises her role as Chani, alongside Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica and Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan. Jason Momoa is also set to return, along with Javier Bardem.

The film introduces Robert Pattinson as Scytale, a new antagonist tied to the political and spiritual tensions shaping the story’s next phase. The narrative is expected to draw from Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah, shifting focus toward the consequences of Paul’s ascent and the expanding influence of his rule.

Villeneuve, who directed the first two installments, has previously indicated that this film will carry a distinct identity while concluding his involvement with the franchise. The earlier films collectively grossed over $1 billion worldwide and earned multiple Academy Awards.

Dune: Part Three continues Warner Bros.’ expansion of the franchise, with a trailer expected to follow in the coming days.
