Amid growing speculations that senior Congress leader and former Minister T. Jeevan Reddy may quit the grand old party soon, his staunch followers reportedly removed the flexis of the Congress party on the premises of his house, named as ‘Indira Bhavan’, in Jagtial town, on Monday evening.

Mr. Jeevan Reddy has been sulking over what he termed as undue importance to the new entrants into the party at the cost of the loyal party cadres in Jagtial district. He has openly expressed his disenchantment over the allotment of the ‘lion’s share’ of the seats in the recent Jagtial municipal elections to the new entrants, apparently sharpening his attack on Jagtial MLA Dr. M. Sanjay Kumar’s followers.

Political observers feel that the presence of Mr. Sanjay Kumar on the dais at a public meeting addressed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Choppadandi last month, notwithstanding his claims that he is continuing in the BRS, irked the followers of Mr. Jeevan Reddy. The rift between the two ‘rival groups’ widened with speculations about Mr. Reddy’s move to sever his more than four-decade-long association with the Congress party. Political circles are abuzz that Mr. Reddy is likely to join the BRS. However, the senior leader is yet to make a final announcement on his next political move. Some key functionaries of the ruling Congress party tried to pacify Mr. Reddy but in vain, sources said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jeevan Reddy took out a rally with maize farmers from his residence to the Collectorate on Monday (March 16, 2026). A delegation of the farmers led by Mr. Reddy submitted a memorandum to the district authorities during the Prajavani programme seeking setting up of maize procurement centres and their immediate operationalisation from the ensuing Ugadi festival.
