Contract worker found dead after ‘harassment’ by senior officer

A contract worker with the Department of Agriculture G.N. Raju was found dead at his residence in Gauripur village of Sandur taluk in Ballari district late on Sunday.

According to sources, Raju, a resident of Gauripur, was in mental distress due to harassment by a senior official in the Agriculture Department.

A three-page note left behind by him contains serious allegations against the officer and cites harassment as the reason for his decision to end his life.

Police officials who reached the scene have initiated investigation. They have sent the body for post-mortem.
