Three persons were killed and five others injured after the four-wheeler in which they were travelling collided with a mini-truck near Jangamguntla village in Cumbum mandal of Markapuram district on Monday. The injured were shifted to a private hospital in Nandyal. According to the police, the victims, from Karnataka, were returning from Srisailam when the accident took place on NH 544D (Anantapur-Guntur National Highway) at around 4.45 pm. Their vehicle is said to have rammed into the mini-truck laden with bananas. Three passengers sitting on the right side of the vehicle died on the spot while two others and the driver were severely injured. The two drivers in the mini-truck were also hurt. The injured were rushed to a private hospital for treatment. The police found that the passengers belong to Belgaum in Karnataka and are gathering further details.
