Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare M.R.K. Panneerselvam and Minister for Labour and Skill Development C.V. Ganesan distributed free laptops to college students at the Town Hall in Cuddalore on Monday. Mr. Panneerselvam said the ‘Ulagam Ungal Kaiyil’ scheme was aimed to benefit 20 lakh students across Tamil Nadu, covering medical, agriculture, law, engineering, arts and science, polytechnic, nursing, and ITIs. According to a press release, in the first phase, laptops would be distributed to a total of 9,051 students in 28 government and government-aided colleges in Cuddalore district. In the second phase, the scheme would be extended to students of 136 private colleges in the district. Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar was present.
