Congress activists led by MLC Balmoor Venkat burnt an effigy of BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, accusing him of promoting ‘drug culture’ in Telangana. Speaking to the media, Mr. Balmoor Venkat reiterated his earlier challenge to Mr. Rama Rao to undergo a ‘white test’ (drug test), claiming that recent incidents had once again raised serious questions. He referred to the recent raid on BRS former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy’s farmhouse and subsequent filing of FIR, stating that the episode had ‘exposed the links of certain leaders with drug networks’. Mr. Venkat alleged that members of the previous ruling party had been caught with drugs by enforcement teams. “Your leaders were caught with drugs by the EAGLE team. Now it should be clear what Mr. Rama Rao’s answer will be. If you dare, respond to this incident,” he said. Meanwhile, TPCC General Secretary Chanagani Dayakar demanded that Mr. Rama Rao issue a clear explanation regarding the alleged drug party involving a former MLA. He further stated that the BRS should face consequences if individuals associated with it were found encouraging drug-related activities.
