Suneetha Narreddy, daughter of slain leader Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, addressing the media in Pulivendula on Sunday. Former Member of Parliament Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Suneetha Narreddy has appealed for justice in the case of the gruesome murder of her father. Addressing a media conference at Pulivendula on Sunday commemorating Vivekananda Reddy’s seventh death anniversary, Ms. Suneetha expressed displeasure over the manner in which the CBI had conducted the probe and felt that the investigating agency could have dug deeper into the facts to arrive at a fair conclusion. She pointed to the incongruity in the phone conversations and messages, conflicting versions of the eye witnesses, contradictory statements recorded from those in the know of things over a period of time, besides technical inconsistencies in the narration. Dr. Suneetha observed that the CBI had not acted on the information provided by some witnesses and opined that the agency had to revise the statements several times “under pressure.” The major deviation she mentioned was that the cause of death had been mentioned first as heart attack by a news channel, which subsequently changed it to murder. “It was a deliberate cover up for continuing the ‘heart attack’ narrative for three hours,” she charged. “If the investigation agency truly seeks the truth, these questions must be examined fully and transparently. Justice cannot rest on unanswered contradictions. What is required is not closure, but a sincere effort to follow the trail of evidence,” she said.
