Environmental groups have condemned cyber attacks on environmental activist N. Badusha after he filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Kalladi–Anakkampoyil tunnel road project. In a joint statement, the organisations said that cyber attacks by a ‘goonda gang’ came after the Wayanad Prakruthi Samrakshana Samithi moved the court seeking cancellation of the environmental clearance granted to the tunnel project. The groups also criticised the announcement of a march by the gang to Badusha’s house, which they said was intended to intimidate him. Environmental groups said that attempts by such gangs to threaten activists would be resisted through legal means and public interventions. The collective expressed concern that the proposed tunnel road could trigger serious ecological consequences in the region. They alleged that the tunnel road project could disturb the ecological balance of Wayanad and lead to major environmental disasters at Meppadi in the district, and affect the Anakkampoyil–Thiruvambady areas in Kozhikode district.
