Ashtamudi Lake will host the President’s Trophy Boat Race and the Champions Boat League (CBL) final on January 10. Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal has instructed officials to complete all necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. Nine boats, including women’s teams, are set to compete over a 1,100-metre course from Thevally Palace to the boat jetty near the Kollam KSRTC bus stand. Advanced technology will be used during the competition to ensure the results are accurate and transparent. Various arts and sports programmes will be held to promote the event. Discussions were held regarding conducting cultural processions along with art forms like Kathaprasangam and Vanchippattu. Friendly matches in football, tug-of-war, and Kabaddi are planned for the upcoming days, featuring participation from teams headed by the MP, MLA, and District Collector.
