T. Senthil Kumar, Commandant of the Tamil Nadu Special Police IV Battalion at Kovaipudur in Coimbatore, was arrested on sexual harassment charges on Saturday (March 14, 2026). A senior police officer said a case was registered against Kumar at the All Women Police Station, Coimbatore South a few days ago based on a complaint lodged by a policewoman. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody on Saturday (March 14, 2026). The Home Department placed Kumar under suspension under Rule 17(e) of the Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1955 in February this year based on complaints of sexual harassment against him. An order dated February 12, 2026, stated that it was necessary in the public interest to place the commandant under suspension from the service in the circumstances of the case. The allegations against him had also been referred to the Internal Complaints Committee. Kumar was lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison for judicial remand.
