Delhi Police appeals to women to immediately report incidents of harassment

The North West district police on Saturday appealed to women and girls to immediately report incidents of harassment so that timely action can be taken. The police made the appeal after a 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a youth in Model Town, after being confronted by the victim’s family over harassing a woman in the neighbourhood.

According to the police, the accused Shyam Sundar alias Shyamlal,  a resident of Rajpura Gurmandihad, was harassing the woman for the past few days by making lewd remarks and gestures whenever she passed by. “She objected to his behaviour and warned him to desist from such acts. In response, Shyamlal threatened her, saying that if she disclosed the matter to anyone, he would kill both her husband and her brother,” a senior police officer said.
