BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao with activists burning an effigy of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in front of the party office in Hyderabad on Saturday. Telangana BJP activists, led by State president N. Ramchander Rao, burnt an effigy of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in front of the party’s State office here on Saturday, protesting against his alleged ‘condemnable behaviour’ in Parliament. Addressing the media on the occasion, Mr. Ramchander Rao said that despite clear rules prohibiting gatherings at the entrance of the Parliament building, Congress leaders treated the Parliament steps like a ‘picnic spot’, sitting there and having tea in complete disregard of the regulations. Mr. Rao alleged that the actions of the Congress MPs amounted to an insult to the temple of democracy. He emphasised that Parliament is a sacred institution meant for debating public issues. He criticised the leaders for joking around and sitting with their legs crossed, calling it a direct affront to the democratic system. “They lack the courage to debate inside the House and the patience to follow rules outside. For Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Parliament has become a picnic spot,” Mr. Rao remarked. He further accused the Congress of spreading misinformation about LPG shortage. He pointed out that even after the Union Minister provided a detailed explanation with data showing sufficient reserves of petrol, diesel and gas, Congress leaders refused to acknowledge it. Instead, they joined suspended MPs to eat biscuits and drink tea on the premises, violating parliamentary protocol.
