Andhra Pradesh State Food Commission member Lakshmi Reddy Endela on Friday directed officials to issue show cause notices to staff of a Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) and two Anganwadi centres at Venkatachalam mandal in SPSR Nellore district, after identifying irregularities in their operations.

While inspecting several Anganwadi centres and schools under the jurisdiction of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), he observed the absence of both children and staff at an Anganwadi centre in Lingamgunta village in Venkatachalam mandal.

He also discovered that the centre was not providing meals for children — not even a boiled egg— and operated without a name board. Moreover, attendance was not recorded, and only three children were registered as attending out of a total of 16.

Upon inquiry over phone, the Food Commission member learned that the Take Home Ration (THR) beneficiaries have not received the eggs so far. He directed the District ICDS Nodal officer Anuradha to issue show cause notices to the Anganwadi teacher and supervisor.

Later, during the inspection at the Anganwadi centre in Sarvepalli village in Venkatachalam mandal, he noticed that the supervisor had last visited the centre on October 8, 2025. In this context, he directed the ICDS Nodal Officer to issue show cause notices to the Anganwadi teacher and supervisor.

Meanwhile, during his inspection at Z.P.H.S. in Sarvepalli village, Mr. Lakshmi Reddy found 540 eggs without colour marking in the school’s storage. When asked why such a stock was taken, the concerned staff could not provide a proper answer.

He spoke to the egg vendor regarding this, and he replied that he did not have any colour marked eggs. Mr. Lakshmi Reddy asked for an inquiry to be conducted on this matter and directed that a report be submitted with full details. He instructed the DEO to issue show cause notices to the head master of the school and the egg vendor.
