Credit: X/@gupta_rekha The Delhi government is planning to rename the Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation (SRDC) and order an investigation into “irregularities” in the redevelopment of old Delhi during the tenure of the previous Aam Aadmi Party dispensation, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Friday (March 13, 2026). According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, three names will be shortlisted in order of preference before the government takes a final decision. Chairing the 38th board meeting of the corporation, Ms. Gupta reviewed projects related to heritage conservation and infrastructure development in the Shahjahanabad area, the statement added. It quoted Ms. Gupta as saying that development projects worth about ₹160 crore are under way on 28 roads in old Delhi. These include road repairs, beautification of public spaces, improved sanitation arrangements, better maintenance of public toilets and large-scale cleanliness drives.
