Union Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and Pralhad Joshi will inaugurate a multi-facility sports complex in Dharwad on Saturday. The well-equipped sports complex, including an international-standard swimming pool, built to encourage and support athletes, is expected to promote local talent. The complex has been constructed on 1.6 acres of land at an estimated cost of ₹50 crore through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding from companies such as ONGC and NMDC Limited. Technical guidance for the project was provided by Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and the prestigious School of Planning and Architecture Delhi. The complex includes an international standard swimming pool, spacious facilities for indoor sports and several modern amenities. Most of the structure has been built using advanced steel construction technology. Facilities include a well-equipped gallery for spectators and rooms for athletes. The ground level of the swimming pool complex includes a water treatment plant, bathrooms, office space and facilities for indoor games such as carrom and chess. The first floor will host kabaddi, wrestling, taekwondo, table tennis, gymnastics and a spectator gallery, along with restrooms and dormitories for athletes. The basement level includes administrative offices, shooting and archery facilities, parking for cars and bikes and a canteen. Additionally, eight shops will be constructed along the road in front of the complex. Inside the sports complex, a spectator gallery and a 50 × 30 international competition-standard swimming pool will be available along with a kabaddi court. The first and second floors will have badminton courts, indoor sports arenas and a gymnasium. The construction work was undertaken by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a public sector enterprise of Indian Railways, which implements major railway infrastructure projects. The swimming pool complex was constructed through RVNL’s partner group of companies, said a release.
