A total of 5,28,239 boys and girls, including 10,512 once-failed candidates, registered for the Secondary School Certificate public examinations 2026, will begin their exam schedule on Saturday with the first language paper. The exams will be conducted from 9.30 a.m. till 12.30 p.m. The Board of Secondary Education said 2,676 centres have been identified for the 33-day examination schedule. The Board advised students to reach the examination centre by 8.30 a.m., in view of traffic and hot weather conditions. Candidates, however, in case of any circumstances will be permitted to enter the examination centre with a five-minute grace period upto 9.35 a.m., beyond the scheduled reporting time. The Board also said candidates must not wear their school uniform to the exam centre to prevent school-based identification and bias. Candidates will be allowed to take only their hall ticket, exam pad, and stationery items such as pen, pencil, measuring scale, sharpener, eraser and geometric instruments only. Prohibited items, including any electronic and communication gadgets, can be deposited at a safe custody arrangement at the centre. All the examination centres will have sufficient furniture to seat the candidates, drinking water facility, toilets and sitting and inspection squad for efficient conduct of the examination.
