Kollam district collectorate has secured the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification for its operational standards, infrastructure and the overall quality of services provided to the public.

The achievement reflects the office’s success in streamlining district administration, land revenue operations, disaster management, and law and order through disciplined monitoring and time-bound execution of government duties. This includes complete digitisation of the record room, which houses files dating back to 1964. This now allows for the retrieval of any document in just three minutes, resulting in a drastic improvement in administrative speed. Beyond technical upgrades, the collectorate underwent a physical makeover, with the walls from the main entrance to the third floor featuring pictures depicting the district’s rich historical and cultural heritage. Accessibility was also prioritised through the construction of ramps for the differently abled and the renovation of the front office and public amenities.

To further enhance the visitor experience, the administration reinstated ATM counters, installed post boxes, and ensured the availability of clean drinking water, seating areas, and well-maintained restrooms. Transparency was bolstered by the installation of informative boards regarding staff attendance, the Right to Information Act, and the Right to Service Act. Furthermore, employees received specialised training to improve service delivery, and a feedback mechanism was established where public opinions are actively used to implement corrective measures. To ensure these high standards are maintained, the office will undergo periodic audits as part of the ISO mandate. The formal declaration was performed by district panchayat president R. Lathadevi during a ceremony held at the collectorate conference Hall. Presided over by District Collector N. Devidas, the event had Principal District Judge N.V. Raju as the guest of honour.
